The typewriter effect is a classic text animation. It creates an illusion that the text is being typed onto the screen one letter at a time, just like an old-fashioned typewriter.
In this tutorial, I will show how to use the DaVinci Resolve feature to recreate a typewriter effect with just a few clicks.
How to do the Typewriter Effect in DaVinci Resolve?
Step 1: Go to the “Effects” tab.
Step 2: Choose “Titles” in the left Toolbox menu.
Step 3: Click “Text+” and move it to your timeline.
You can zoom in or zoom out the timeline for more precise adjustments.
Step 4: Now, you can write your text. You can change it later without redoing the effect.
Step 5: Place the Playhead at the beginning of the text clip.
Step 6: Scroll down the “Video” tab and find the “Write on” option at the bottom.
Step 7: Click on the rightmost dot and move it to the left. The “End” value must be “0.0”
Step 8: Press the “Keyframe” icon on the right to make it red.
You can also set keyframes using a shortcut, which is faster.
Step 9: Place the Playhead where you want your typewriter effect to stop. At this point, your text will be fully typed.
Step 10: Scroll down the “Video” tab and find the “Write on” option and press the “Keyframe” icon on the right to make it red.
Step 11: Click on the right dot on the line (which you previously moved to the left) and move it to the rightmost point. The “End” value must be “1.0”
